Yes, I was sadly too late to share this, in fact, I almost missed it completely myself! I wandered across Nintendo's website last night just before bed, only to find myself scrambling to grab my 3DS in a bleary-eyed haze, to get the free Zelda Four Swords 25th Anniversary Edition download they were offering!
Now, this is not, in my opinion, one of the better Zelda games out there, which is likely why it was the offered freebie. But hey, it's still a Zelda game, and it was free. I still have the cartridge version of this from when it first came out, and I wasn't overly impressed then. Still, I won't look a gift horse in the mouth, and having another game on my DS that is there "just in case" (ie: when I'm bored and have nothing else to do!) is always a plus.
I'm not big on the game downloads with the exception of the Virtual Console games. I like having the cartridges there, in my hands, so that should something happen to my system (though unlikely!) I don't have to call Nintendo and gripe, and hope that they'll figure out some way for me to get my software on a new system. I own the new Zelda: A Link Between Worlds game, and I love it... but my biggest upset about it is that it came as a download with my system (I got the gold 3DS XL bundle, since I hadn't bought one yet!) instead of as a card. Is it handy that the game is always there and ready to play? Sure. But honestly, I wish I could just load my most frequently played games from the card to the memory, and play them that way, instead of download only or card only, or purchase it twice. :/ C'mon Nintendo!
At the same time, I know they're fighting piracy, and what better way to do that then not allow card-based games to be loaded into memory, right? So I'm not going to complain too much, as long as they don't go totally digital on me.
As for my lack of attention and missing broadcasting this freebie they had? Sorry everyone. I'll try to do better paying attention next time! Even if I had posted last night about it, it was almost too late for anyone to benefit from it an
